SITE OVERVIEW
With over 38,000 hectares of mangroves, and over 12,000 hectares of tropical forest, the Churute Mangrove Ecological Reserve is one of the largest mangrove reserves in the country. Located just 58 km (36 miles) from downtown Guayaquil, it's easy to add a visit to this birdwatcher's paradise to your city tour. Within this reserve, there are over 300 species of birds, 27 of which are endemic to Ecuador and 11 of which are endangered species. Join us for a boat ride down the winding saltwater canals of the Guayas Estuary. Learn about the different species of mangroves and the interesting flora and fauna you discover along the way. The adventure continues as we walk through the dry tropical forests in search of rare birds and howler monkeys.
