Enrique Silva
Naturalist, Undersea Specialist
Enrique was born and raised in the Galapagos after his parents moved from mainland Ecuador in the 1980’s, as did many other Ecuadorians, in search of better work and life opportunities.
His father was his greatest inspiration and influenced his career, and like him, Enrique worked in tourism and later in fishing, taking him in a long trip around the archipelago. So, after graduating from high school, his great opportunity came; in 2008, he participated in a training course in the Galapagos National Park and became a naturalist’s guide. In 2018 he became a dive master and has worked in the best tourism companies on the islands.
His favorite part of working is to see the impression that all guests have every time they see a blue footed booby or a sea lion for the first time. Now he is also interested in becoming a biologist and studies law to eventually participate in the main decisions about the marine resources of the Galapagos, but meanwhile, Enrique has his own space for interviews with famous Galapagos people, on one of the local radio stations.
