Shelley Ricks
Naturalist
Shelley, a biology major at Presbyterian College from York, South Carolina, combines her academic studies with a deep love for animals, adventure, and the outdoors. Her recent trip to the Galápagos Islands, where she was captivated by the incredible biodiversity and scenic hikes, inspired her to write a paper on the region’s conservation challenges.
In addition to her studies, Shelley works on a farm and interns at a dental office, gaining a range of experiences that enrich her perspective. Her passion for nature is also expressed through her art and photography, capturing the beauty of wildlife. Shelley’s dedication to biological conservation and her appreciation for the natural world fuel her commitment to environmental preservation.
