Jairo Flores
Naturalist
Jairo was born in Loreto department the capital of the Jungle in Peru he raised up in Iquitos city very well known as the Pearl of the jungle by the rubber time. Of native Amazonian parents of flora and fauna lovers who instilled in Jairo since he was a child love and respect for the mother nature, he got his primary and secondary studies in Iquitos. During school holidays, Jairo helps his parents on the farm, growing many local products and taking care of the livestock.
At seventeen he started studying English at the technical school and became one of the best students. At the age of 20 he finished his studies finding his first job in a tourist company. His love of nature was something he inherited from his father, a man with a very high concept of conservation. Since then, Jairo has not stopped studying and training, taking many courses in ornithology, botany, ethnobotany, ethnomedicine and will soon graduate to obtain his national title of Naturalist and official tour guide in Peru.
His expertise in natural history has inspired travelers to understand and appreciate travel to the Amazon, an area he considers a gift, as one of the most productive parts of the planet with vast arrays of traits and interactions among species. He actively participates in helping local communities and nonprofit organizations carry out conservation efforts.
Jairo also collaborates with the monitoring of migratory birds to facilitate data to conserve the stopover rainforest where these birds regain energy in their fly ways. He loves photography, bird watching and identifying native plants of the place.
